Zoom is a powerful search and semantic analysis engine enabling you to search for, to group together by subject, and to manage all the texts dealing with one or several themes within a large collection of documents. In order to use it, you have to index a folder, start a search by using a few criteria, and browse or analyze the results.
Before starting with Zoom, you can use the Robot to download websites on your computer.
To index a folder structure, you must open the root folder containing your documents, click on the [Index this folder] button, then press the [Create] button:
With the professional version, you can select a Scenario, your own semantic classification.
To search for one or several specific words, type them in the [Search] field:
Once you have written something in the [Search] field, the software will suggest that you replace each identified word (criterion) with the sense it is contained into. Zoom is a Semantic Search Engine. Thus, the search is not carried out directly on the words you have chosen, but on the totality of their Semantic Equivalents. For example, if you make a search on the word “bush” (the plant), the software will not only retrieve the texts containing “bush”, but those that contain “bushes”, “shrub”, etc. You can also extend the search to the notion of “woody plants” by checking the related boxes in the criterion list. You can also select “George Bush”, with a very different meaning...
To start the search, press the [Enter] key or click on the [Search] button. The software displays, in the right frame, the files containing the stipulated criteria and a pertinence factor:
You can select several files (up to 10,000) and analyze them as a whole with Tropes text analysis software. This will enable you to understand the information you are searching much more rapidly than by opening documents one by one.
On the left frame, Zoom shows a dynamic classification of the documents (in the [Scenario] tabsheet). The classification is carried out in real time, each line includes a label followed by the number of related documents (displayed in parentheses). You can use a checkbox to restart the search (by subject) on a subset of files found.
You can use the Scenario in Zoom's Report writer to easily build analysis reports on the selected documents:
In order to create an accessible "quick" guide we had to remove from this document many functions of Zoom Search Engine. Read the following guides and manuals for complementary information.
